Among the essential skills are reading, writing, document use, oral communication, numeracy, computer use, working with others continuous learning and thinking skills.

Emotional Intelligence also falls under the job readiness.

Do you have comments regarding job readiness deficiencies in our local labour force or suggestions on how to increase job readiness levels?

I would like to add professionalism, a sense of work ethic, and critical thinking, accountability, positive working habits, punctuality, and workload management.
We need to help our academic institutions by partnering with businesses to provide mentoring programs, internships, job-shadowing programs, and summer job opportunities

Thank you for your comment Trillium Construction!

Every one of the skills you listed are essential to job readiness. If an individual is not skilled in these areas it may prove difficult for them to find a job and/or retain it.

In regards to your second point of academic institutions and business' partnering to provide mentoring programs, internships, job-shadowing programs and summer job opportunities, you are absolutely right.
